We spoke with some of the most experienced appliance repairmen in Victoria, and this is what we learned

The Appliance Repair Pro is a company of experienced technicians, but we're not the oldest company in town. There's another company in town called Appliance Repair Victoria which has been in business for an impressive amount of time, since 1988, serving the Capital region and much of southern Vancouver Island with top-quality appliance repairs. We wanted to learn from them because we're inspired and hope to be in business as long or if not longer than them. We took away some key learning points from them to augment our owns services, and by using the latest technology and practices on newer brands we hope to offer the same amount of quality with a younger approach. We don't like to compete with other companies, we like to learn from and work with them, as also being a smaller company means we've sent jobs we couldn't handle to Appliance Repair Victoria before, so we're glad to have them on our side.


Now without further ado, here are 5 key points we learned by speaking with one of the oldest appliance repair companies in Victoria BC:

  1. Appliance keep a stock of common appliance repair parts in your van or other work vehicle. This will allow you to save client's time if the part they need happens to be close by.
  2. Be transparent about the warranty you offer. This will answer a lot of questions for the client straightaway.
  3. Respond to missed phone calls and emails as soon as possible. A professional business should be prompt in their replies to potential clients.
  4. Never complicate the repair more than it needs to be by trying to explain every finite detail to the client. Some clients don't want to know all the details of every step you took to repair the appliance. Unless they ask just get the job done so the appliance works optimally and give them the scoop in simple terms they can understand. Because, remember, we fix appliances so they don't have to think about it let alone do it themselves.
  5. Be kind and courteous. It goes a long way to make a client smile simply by being a nice person. Even if the day is stressful, it should be the obligation of the appliance repair technician to lower stress levels for everyone involved.
